Tastes like a regular avo? Not even close.

To celebrate the new season, our mate and chef extraordinaire Mark Best, spent some quality time with Suzie and Robbie down at the orchard and developed tasting notes and a bespoke flavour wheel for this seasons extra special Delcados.

Delcados are left on the tree for up to 16 months, almost twice as long as other avocados. The slow-growing process allows the natural oils to truly mature and develop that unique Delcado flavour.

Applying the same principals used by Sommeliers for tasting wine, Mark’s Delcado flavour wheel aims to help you pinpoint a Delcados distinctive taste, aroma and texture. Check it out!

This season’s Delcado has a lovely, buttery texture and an aroma almost like a lime going into green cashews. Just the freshness of it is incredible. On the palate, a Delcado has citrus notes that evolve into a slight hint of green banana. There’s a bit of an acid finish, which complements the richness of the oils - it is absolutely delicious

To be honest, we've never heard someone talk about an avo like this. Puts our little beauties in the spot light. And left us all feeling a bit special.

Want a go? Thought you would. Just follow the steps. Simple.

1.     It all starts with a Delcado. Take a bite, or good whiff, and soak up the taste and aroma.

2.     Start from the middle of the flavour wheel and move outwards to find the right lingo.

3.     To sound like a pro, check out the numbers on the outer wheel. They’re Mark’s notes on the aroma and flavour of this season’s Delcado, based on a scale of 1 to 10.
